SPACE MISSION PROPOSAL
A. SCIENTIFIC JUSTIFICATION (400-450 words)
In many years of research trying to find proof of life on other planets, comets, or moons in our solar system, there have been inventions to help breach the gap between humans, and extraterrestrial beings. SETI or search for extraterrestrial intelligence is an institute that is in charge of analyzing radio signals and monitoring any sign of another civilization outside our planet. A new project for the search is designed by SETI and is named Laser SETI. This will train 96 cameras at a number of locations around the world to keep watch for any signals or signs from space. Each camera can detect minimal, rapid flashes of light from space, which are considered as “technosignature” that is proof of the existence of other beings (Siegfried). The previous SETI technology focused on getting radio signals or frequencies from the vast universe, then it became optical which observed visual signals but only captured a limited pixel in the vast night sky at any time, but this new Laser SETI would be able to localize an event and locate it in an axis due to its multiple cameras set at different angles and locations. (Chen) This instrument is engineered by Eliot Gillum who is part of the SETI Institute (Siegfried). The improvement with the Laser SETI and further advancement with its placement would support the theory that the universe is dimensional (Chen). This means that the geometric angle that every camera is placed affects the visual photos and the extent that we are able to see the surroundings including the visual signal of possible extraterrestrial beings.
There are also many exoplanets that are newly discovered, having similar rock formations with earth, and some of the components of our atmosphere. These are called “super-earth” because of its larger mass and greater size when compared to earth. In addition to these, they are also exoplanet candidates that may be habitable to the human race and may able to sustain life (Howell).
These facts are important in this mission to make sure that the instruments are fully equipped to withstand the challenges of the travel and the state of surroundings on the target exoplanet. This upgrade of Laser SETI would be accomplishing goals of determining the presence of extraterrestrial beings from another world with the chance of interacting and communicating with them and opening a possibility of discovering a habitable exoplanet for the human rac...
