The African food experience is rich compared to most of the cultures. Food plays a significant role in the black community, and it is used to mark special events such as weddings, childbirth, funeral ceremonies, initiation parties, and celebration of a bountiful harvest. From the reading, it is evident that the community had the privilege to consume fresh foods that included vegetables, fruits, and grains. The result was healthy and robust black populations that were later exploited as slaves due to their well-built physique.
