Environment crime is an illegal act which harms the environment directly. It is a crime that can lead the accused to jail. In the world, a lot of activities lead to environmental pollution. Some of these activities are deforestation, wild animal trafficking, dumping in rivers, finning among others. These activities may have immediate negative effects, but some may take a little longer to be manifested. This paper is going to look at a company that commits an environmental crime, the impact of the crime on the community and the legal measures that ought to be taken.
Northrop Grumman is a giant aerospace company that has an abandoned facility in Calverton, New York. The company pollution plume is larger than public health official first thought it was. Volatile organic compounds are saturating the ground water and no matter how deep and wide the ground is dug in search of clean water; they end up uncovering more pollution. The industrial pollution is so deep unlike the first reports by the public health officers indicated.
This kind of pollution is directly affecting the cleanliness of the water reservoir underground. It then means that the water in that area is unsafe for both human consumption...
