The clip I chose is the opening scene in Orson Welles’ Touch of Evil. In this particular scene, Welles employs a long camera shot that starts when the vehicle pulls out from the back of a bar/restaurant, into an alley, and onto the main road. I chose this scene because it has inspired many made and unmade films. It is in this scene that one gets a front-row seat at Welles’ ingenuity as far as technique is concerned. The scene stands out from all other movies up to that point, and as a result, it draws in the viewer in a spectacular way.
