Concert Report
Kristin Leitterman and Jeremy Samoleksy
For this concert report, I chose to go to the performance of Drs. Leitterman and Samoleksy held at the Goodwin Recital Hall. I understand that it is Dr. Leitterman’s desire to bring music to younger generations and after watching this beautiful concert, I believe that she will be very successful in doing so if the youth would be exposed to such music. Dr. Samoleksy’s critics were also right about his brilliance and his being full of intensity and drama which inevitably showed on that stage.
The first piece was the Allegro Con Fuoco composed by Johann Wenzel Kalliwoda. It was the perfect opening for the Concertino and it instantly stood out among the rest because of its playful contour and rich textures. I particularly like the high notes and the powerful crescendos toward the end, and Dr. Leitterman played her instrument effortlessly. The Romanze, on the other hand, was slow and sweet, which quickly moved to a delightful forte, taking us by a wonderful surprise. It included a beautiful monophony toward the end which was the perfect way to open the Vivace, which came last on the first half of the concert. The first act ended in high spirits and with cheerful applause.
