Introduction
According to the video, Peter forgot to send his cover sheet on the TPS report and got the memo regarding the mistake for not repeating it again. Hence, the video interpreted the working environment by highlighting the work attitude of pater, his colleagues and supervisors towards the company; Initech. Further, it reflected how the work attitude affects the individual’s behavior towards the company. As per the study of Tsai et al. (2015), the organizational environment should be encouraging for employees to show gratitude and responsiveness towards work activities. However, the management and leaders are dominant and demotivate the subordinates then it would harm the performance of the company due to adverse effects on productivity, high turnover, dissatisfaction, low commitment, and decrease organizational reputation.
Environment at Initech
From the evaluation of the video about the Initech business environment, preparing the TPS report is the most significant aim of the company and multiple bosses emphasized Peter, repeatedly, to show the TPS report from now by warning him in the memo. The work environment in Initech is discouraging because of cubicle office spaces, frustrated colleagues, meaningless goals, no professionalism, high politics, demotivated work attitude and bad body language to communicate with the subordinates. As per Di Fabio, Palazzeschi and Bucci. (2017), leaders in the developed companies show gratitude towards employees to enhance motivation and guide them professionally about the working practice to achieve smart goals. Consequently, the manager has a crucial role in creating better working conditions for employees by promoting equality and sustainable work environment.
Supervision Style
At Initech, the supervisor, Bill Lumbegh is dominant in personality and micro-managed Peter every time by asking him about the TPS report. His attitude is unprofessional and discouraging towards Peter, which leads towards the frustrated attitude and demotivates him to work dedicatedly. Therefore, he transformed his behavior into immoral employees who do not care about the work environment and job responsibilities. The constant stress and interruption from Lumbegh pressurize Peter to adopt such irrelevant attitude towards work.
Physical Environment
By overviewing the physical environment of the Initech, the office is compacted and cubical which creates the disturbing environment in the office and distracts people from the work. Likewise, the sound of radio and Nina on-call shares the account payable reports with boss.
