MODIS is the moderate resolution imaging specroradiomater that is a scientific instrument that is used in tracking changes in the landscape over time. On the other hand, AVHRR is the advanced very high-resolution radiometer that is a scientific instrument used in measuring the earth’s thermal emission and monitoring the clouds. It can also be used in surveillance of the earth’s surface, aerosols, and ocean state. Lastly, GOES is the geostationary operational environmental satellite that is used in tracking severe storms, weather forecasting, and meteorology research (Gallo, Ji, Reed, Dwyer, & Eidenshink, 2004).
