Census of fatal occupational injuries (CFOI) is the guideline for fatal work injuries within the America. Its main scope is to provide the threshold under which fatal injuries must fall to be included in the CFOI. The purpose is to care for individuals who get a fatal injury when on the person was on employer's premises and was there to work, or when the person was off the employer's premises and was there to work. Or when the event that led to exposure was related to the person's job status or as an employee (CFOI, 2016). It defines the employer premises as building, grounds, parking lots, and other facilities used to conduct business. According to CFIO statics, the most dangerous jobs those that are involved in transportation and moving materials. This group accounted for around 28% of the fatal occupational injuries (News release, 2016).
In this category, drivers, salespersons, and heavy trailer drivers led with the highest number. The second group of jobs which are considered most dangerous according to the census is construction and extraction jobs. Construction laborers and construction trade workers led this team. Also in the category of the most dangerous jobs is farming and ranching. According to the data, ranchers and farmers and other agricultural came in third in the list of employment with the highest level of fatalities. Other dangerous jobs in the list include logging workers, firefighters, first line supervisors and police officers. Moreover, the military also made it to the list however it recorded the lowest number of fatalities.
