The existentialist theory proposes that the individual suffers psychological disturbance when not true to himself while in the client-centered believes that disorganization leads victims to fulfillment (Blatt 2013). Tim is of the idea that the two can be merged. Combination of the two theories would mean that the psychologist allow for existence of both natural growth and self-actualization by the individual. The active approach adopted by existentialist therapists will synchronize and find the client-centered approach through encouraging the client to face his/her psychological concern. Eventually the client moves himself to a stable position because of the therapists challenge. Natasha found it difficult to decide on how the two approaches could work in harmony in one therapy session. Essentially existential therapists mostly work with behavior modification techniques and are more about making the client adapt to the current situation (Corbett & Milton 2011). On the other hand, the person-centered approach can be termed as a more humanistic approach that incorporates talk, listening and caring qualities by the practitioner (Kensit 2000). In harmony, the counseling process would be mainly existential at work and client based in making the clients apprehend the current situation and the solutions.
