Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is an active and practical approach that aids individuals to cope with and overcome adversity as well as achieve their goals. It places a great deal of its focus on the present. Because of these reasons REBT and other behavioral theories address populations that have bad attitudes, unhealthy emotions (e.g., depression, guilt, anxiety, unhealthy anger, etc.). It also addresses those under the following mental health categories; maladaptive behaviors (e.g., unhealthy eating, aggression, addictive behavior, unhealthy eating etc.). REBT and behavioral theories can be used with clients from different cultural backgrounds. These theories are thought to be more effective when working with culturally diverse clients.
