Bowenian theory can be described as an insight oriented approach since it seems to put more emphasis on rational processes that are usually used in gaining self-awareness. The strategic approach theory of family therapy was developed and modified by several clinicians such as Brown and Jenny (2008). This approach put more emphasis on the individuality of family members and individual fulfillment.

Family therapy is typically based on Bowen’s family system theory, which states that individuals are hard to be separated from their connected relationship. Murray Bowen was mainly interested in creating a scientific objective of the treatment process .This might be an alternative to conventional approach and pathological approach (Kuehl, 2009)
