As cited in the post by Christina, the adjustment that comes with retirement is quite complex and some of the people may not respond as positively (Davey, 2008). This is dependent on the financial, health, social and whether the retirement decision was made voluntarily or otherwise. Where the retiree has a stable financial, social and health background and they chose to retire rather being forced, they are likely to have positive experience. They are likely to participate in volunteer services (Mather, 2006).

In her post, Sandra correctly indicates that, it is common for the pension plan to have an influence on the decision of most of the senior citizens to retire. Having spent close to or more than half of their lives working, it is common for the seniors to make the decision to retire (Alvarenga, Kiyan, Bitencourt, & Wanderley, 2008). The past 20 years has also seen some rather flawed benefits plans, which is forcing most of the people into working longer than they would have wanted.
