This task analysis provides an overview of the steps involved in the skill of washing hands. The task begins with a stimulus, followed by a sequence of responses until the task is completed. Each step is explained in detail as it progresses.
Washing hands begins with seeing an empty sink, which serves as a stimulus to begin the task. The response to this stimulus is to turn on the faucet and put your hands under running water. The subsequent response is to rub the hands together with soap stimulated by placing the hands under running water. The next response entails rinsing the hands triggered by their lathering. The succeeding response is to turn off the tap and dry hands with a towel. The activity is stimulated by washing away the soap. Lastly, the towel is placed on the rack, and the task is complete when the hands are seen to be clean (Miltenberger, 2020).
