A photo also offers a particular view through the eye of the photographer–a way of seeing a place and its ecology, or relationship with the environment. As such, a photo can be a succinct and concise way depict an ecological story. 
This assignment asks you to interpret an original photograph and an analysis of the ecology of a place
Tasks:
1) choose a location that depicts some aspect of urban ecology
2) Take ONE original photograph(your own!) that depicts a special feature, unique aspect, or character of the ecology of the place. This could be at home, visitingyour family, on a weekend getaway with friends, skiing with your roommates, a beach vacation, or even just studying in your apartment, dorm or wherever!
3) Document the nature of the place you are spending the study break away from classes. You should use the same skills of observation you learned to use during the Field Observation exercise in High Park. 
How would you describe the ecology of this place? Specifically,ask your self these questions and document (makes notes of) your observations: 
a.WHERE are you? 
b.WHAT aspects of the local ecology are visible around you? For example, WHICH features and processes are evident? Are they animals, plants, or elements of the physical environment? 
c.HOW have these features shaped the place? Use evidence(examples of what you can see around you)to supportyour observations.
4) Provide the following information on one page, not more than 500 words, and attach a printed copy of your original photograph:

II.explain HOW your image relates to the ecology of place you are describing.

Pictures can be used to interpret the ecological characteristics of an area. This is a picture taken in Ontario, in Richmond Hill along the Yonge Street & Jefferson Side Road. The area depicted in the pictures is taken from the neighborhood as one is walking towards the bus stop. It provides insight into the area of Richmond Hill relative to the characteristics of the ecology compared to other places in the region. From the picture, there are quite a number of physical features that can be used to describe the area. At the foreground of the picture, the ground is largely bare without much vegetation or other features such as rocks. A few grass tall grass and a layer of short grasses. Much of the ground in the foreground of the picture, is seen to be frozen, which further explains why there are few grasses. As one proceeds towards the middle ground in the picture, there are quite a number of features that can be seen. One of the dominating features is that of the tall grasses there is a dominating tall grass, which covers the entire length of the area after the foreground and before the middle ground.
