The Timeline Guide: Advance preparation will encompass defining the project needs which includes cost, resources, and workforce. It also includes workflow mapping, defining individuals’ roles and preparing the budget. The next step will be system selection which will be followed by implementation. This will be followed by staff training on the application of EHR. The last step will be supporting the EHR project which is a long term process which includes motivating workers towards the technology. Besides, the timeline is prepared in such a way that it facilitates the success of the process. The team members developed it during the first meeting.
Role of EHR Project Team Members
The implementation of health information exchange EHR needs a know-how and effort from a number of individuals within the health care system (Blumenthal & Tavenner, 2010). The healthcare professionals face challenges in day to day duties like appointment scheduling, history-taking, and recording, check-in process, documentation, administration of medication and even making a reference. Henceforth, establishing an EHR project team will help convey all the required skills to ensure smooth run of the EHR. This is essential since the initial goal of the team will be to evaluate the possible return on the investment and to what extent it will benefit the end users. Additionally, the project team will participate in selecting the appropriate EHR application. Once an EHR application is selected and acquired, the team’s focus will immediately shift to implementation of the software. Hence, EHR project team will foster a team-orientated environment for the acquisition and implantation of an EHR application. Moreover, the team will promote trust in the new technology, motivate fellow staff towards the transformation and enhance good communication throughout the process.
