In the case study, several change initiatives were attempted unsuccessfully. Your goal this week is to select one of the initiatives and develop a plan to successfully implement organizational change.
Adaptability and flexibility are required in organizational change as there are unknown scenarios when there is change. Thus, to successfully implement change there is a need to consider the case for changes and bringing on board the stakeholders.
* Determining readiness for change - 1 week
This step includes understanding both the moment of the organization and its stakeholders. Reviewing the resources that the organization has to support the change, communication monitor change and provide feedback is essential. The pace at which change is implemented and learning from decisions on the action plan are considered in the change process. There is also focus on the need for training to adapt the organization and it’s the stakeholders to change, while agents of change are identified. This will take 1 week, and there is engagement with the stakeholders mostly the employees. This is necessary with establishing what is required in the change process and there is clarity about the change.
* Involving the members of the organization – 2 weeks
It is important to know that the vision is and involving is important to facilitate collaboration and the implementation of the change. This is a process of awareness and acceptance where the members take an active role in the implementation process. Creating a positive vision of change, where there is employee guidance and awareness of benefits and need for change. This is also useful to reduce the resistance and especially when there is open communication and the employees contact leader or agent of change to know the way forward. New, reconfigured teams may be necessary when implementing change on a large-scale where team members are motivated and there is less change fatigue (Camilleri, Cope & Murray, 2019). All the team members are involved in the change process and within 2 weeks they get to learn more about the proposed changes.
* Motivating staff during the change – 2 weeks
