Over the years as natural resources are exploited beyond their regeneration rates, there has also been a trend in changing ecosystems. With the changing ecosystems, biotic communities have suffered massive blows such as the spotted owl. The strain on their ecosystem have decreased their numbers to near extinction. In 1990 the spotted owl was included in the Endangered Species Act for protection. Without the mean to protect themselves the endangered species have to be protected. The spotted owl makes a good example of the endangered species that have to be protected. Making a correct syllogism argument is especially difficult due to elements of conflicting opinion and the complex relationship between the terms (Moore & Parker, 2015).
