At a young age, I disliked print advertisements and found them to be fascinating. I loved seeing full-page ads in the newspaper but when I got older the ads became less attractive and adoptive to me. I could view them as not only static but also dated and could not accommodate any immediate changes in the society. In middle school, I gained interest of internet marketing, although it was still an infant sector. Solomon states that, “after you’ve forged meaning, you need to incorporate that meaning into a new identity.” As time went by, the business had developed and stabilized and my interest in internet marketing grew as a result of observing how internet marketers constantly adjusted to fit any changes in the facets of the industry such as, Google’s algorithms, new audiences and new mobile phones. To me, that was a transition that Solomon talks about in what he is refereeing to as “forging meaning.”
Originally, my plan was to focus only on business marketing since there existed less degrees in digital marketing. Although, in the recent years, schools in the country have introduced courses in internet marketing and teach fields such as, website analytics and search engine optimization. The fact that there are always new things to learn is the best part in internet marketing. Using my creative mind and my nature to explore, I can try new methods of advertising that will enhance business success, keeping in mind that, their success is my success too. This what Solomon terms as “nirvana” and it is a situation where we find happiness after finding peace in ourselves and view every experience in any manner, may it be elating or devastating that may add any kind of hardship to our lives.
