Nursing Career Planning Name; University: Nursing Career Planning Careers are one of the greatest employment opportunities, not only in the current field of employment, but also on the basis of paths of entries that are becoming complicated each year. While it may be possible to find the right niche in the field of nursing, majority of practitioners still find it necessary to seek for better opportunities by pursuing advanced posts. According to Ingersoll et al., (2002), it is important to manage nursing career just like just like it happens in the management of a business. Therefore, a career plan becomes an essential tool in pursuant of a nursing career. In his sentiments, Chang Boon Lee (2003) supports the use of career plan as a yardstick to project professional development, job satisfaction and illustration of commitments to the discipline. The profession of nursing is a highly rewarding career with plenty of room for advancement and development. In that respect, having pursued Bachelor degree of Science in nursing program at Chamberlain College of Nursing at Keystone and Crossing in Indianapolis, I intend to achieve my long term career objective by working as a registered nurse in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). In order to attain this objective, I need to establish a strong foundation by working hard in the next 5 years before seeking for an advanced level of employment opportunity while climbing up the ladder, and through continued education. I have done all the clinical nursing rotations and ready to take the board exam in couple of months. Therefore, my ultimate objective is to become a registered nurse in a renowned healthcare institution like St. Vincent Hospital, or Eskenazi Hospital as a new graduate nurse. Holistic Life Balance My intention to join a nursing school was influenced by the passion to serve the society especially victims of accidents. I was inspired by elder brother who is working as registered nurse to date. I am enrolled in the Accelerated Bachelor degree of Science in Nursing program at Chamberlain College of Nursing at Keystone and Crossing in Indianapolis. I have been moved especially having heard from him on how he helps patients in critical conditions. From his stories, I envisioned the need to pursue a course in nursing so as to give back to the society in terms of service. With over ten years of experience, I am well organized and have a strong interpersonal skill and other necessary skills for this position. I also thrive in a fast-pace environment, and I am able and committed to learn new skills as the work demands it. All this suited me to work independently and in collaborative team- oriented setting. Therefore, I would be able to gain a deeper insight on how to handle technical clinical procedures and make accurate decision on how to undertake a holistic patient care (Yilmaz et al., 2016).
