My Current Philosophy of Education My current philosophy of Education is centered around "beingness" and community as influenced by the many different theories of social scientists like Maslow, Piaget and Vygotsky. All their contributions to the field of Psychology and Human development point out that learning is a very social thing, and that as teachers, through their experiences in life and interaction, must responsibly mend the youth in a state of higher consciousness and awareness, thus being mindful of an integrated community. Teachers should act with integrity and awareness of being a great influence among youth. Maslow's famous "Hierarchy of Needs" provides a framework of understanding that at the highest level of our needs, is a higher status of connection to others and within ourselves. Humanistic psychology implied the idea that paved the way for positive psychology movement. The Positive Psychology movement strives to teach that human beings are dependent to their social environment and that as members of this environment, adults should teach that which matters to bringing out the best from somebody. It focuses on increasing one's well being in order to improve one's own and other people's lives, to have a better society. Caregivers should be able to give their attention and time in learning each student's needs through kind and educative interactions. This philosophy is influenced by vygotsky's notion of the "intramental" and "intermental". Vygotsky's theory stated that learning happens within the dyad, a unit he used to access learning ability. As posed in his "Zone of Proximal Development Theory", social interaction with other children and adult is basis for one's capacity to grow intellectually and emotionally.  Intermental learning is when another person would support an individual to internalise a new skill. Intramental is when the individual acts that skill on his own and practices it through out his life.
