Write an essay arguing how and why Neil Gaiman's short stories "The Price" and "Snow, Glass, Apples" are similar in their response to the classic stories, "The Black Cat" and "Snow White." In other words, we know that these two Gaiman stories are related to a classic story, but how? What are "The Price" and "Snow, Glass, Apples" doing to or with these classic stories? What do they achieve in this process?
Your essay must answer the prompt with a clear thesis statement and use direct examples and quotations from the stories to support your arguments.

Among the most notable similarities in these articles is that the authors are emphasizing on the existence of witchcraft, superstition and evil powers. There narration are based on their own or the character’s experiences. In the Snow, Glass and Apples, the narrator, who was the princess’ stepmother depicts the mysterious nature of the King’s little daughter while she was at the palace. For instance, the king’s daughter would not eat with the rest of the family members in the king’s house. This mystery was more revealed when the daughter entered the room of the stepmother and bit her deeply, sucking much blood. What was even more peculiar was that the cut that emanated from the bite “began to close and heal as soon as she was finished with her mission”. This is also the time when things started going wrong for the step mother, his husband the king losing all affection on her, deterioration of his health and eventually dying. Another mysterious encounter the narrator recounts were the existence of the “dangerous, feral, and stunted people in the forest”. According to the narrator, this little girl was the source of most problems that were experienced in the Queens kingdom despite her death. For instance, she notes that although her dead body was thrown into the forest, she still caused havoc and made the forest unsafe for the forest dwellers. This affected her kingdom negatively as they used to depend on the forest people for trade purposes. Further, the queen who is the narrator explains that despite this mysterious girl having died, she continued to haunt her, and was the cause of her downfall.
Similarly, the Snow White, although giving another dimension of the relationship between the Queen and her stepdaughter also reiterates the superstition and mysterious events in these story. This time, the daughter experiences the power of witchcraft from her stepmother. For instance, the narrator explains that the stepmother had a magic mirror that she could ask whether there was anyone else more beautiful than she was. One day, the mirror had told her that there was an upcoming lady who was growing more beautiful than her, and this was her stepdaughter, Snow White. According to the narrator, this knowledge was the source of all th...
