Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a condition that is seen in the individuals in a society after exposure to physical or sexual abuse in the society. These abuses are usually for a continued period of time but also sudden intense abuse can also result to PTSD. Biochemical and psychological change are stimulated by continued abuse resulting in PTSD. Social treatments such as unacceptance, family violence and unrecognision in the family accelerate the chances of developing PTSD. A painful disease like cancer, personal caused injuries, and abuse lead to behaviors and emotional reaction collectively called PTSD. The onset of the disorder usually occurs weeks or even months after the traumatizing event. The victim`s performance in various activities deteriorates considerably. They may be the direct victims or witnesses of a traumatizing ordeal like landslides, earthquakes, car accidents etc.
PTSD develops in stages. The first victim stage is denial. The victims tend to assume that nothing bad happened to them and think it is a part of what life had in store for them. There is also intense fear in which the victim is so scared of his own self and keeps on having nightmares. They always have flash backs of what had previously happened and sees or hears them calling frequently. The members of the family and work mates tend to dissociate with the victim and get on with life. They see them as burden.
The second victim stage is helplessness where the victim realizes that what happened was a reality and so they start feeling humiliated and mental illness result. This is the stage that cons...
