Economics of Biodiversity Name: Institution of Affiliation: Date: Economics of Biodiversity The course has been valuable in that I learned how biodiversity is a major environmental issue. It still is an environmental agenda and looks to last longer at that conservation radar. I understood the topic on how diversity in living things; plants, animals and other organisms live in harmony. I understood better when we learned about diversification as an essentiality of nature. The reason being it ensures the human species survive by having something to eat, to shelter under, to use medicine or other essential resources necessary for humanity. I have learned how climatic conditions can affect flora and fauna species and how rapid changes in the environment can influence the course of biodiversity. I understood all concepts of the role of humans in biodiversity. People rely on the natural habitat to produce a variety of goods and services from the ecosystem. This can range from the use of individual species for medicine, food among others. This also could be used to function in situations that help the environment co-exist for instance water purification, the regulation of climate and the retention of nutrients and minerals in the ecosystem. I have learned of ways that have become threats to biodiversity, for example, the introduction of hybrid non-indigenous species, loss of habitat, environmental pollution, changes in climate and the geochemical cycles and also deforestation.
