Gene Expression Influence

Essay Instructions:
The material covered in this module shows how internal and external factors influence gene expression. For this discussion you are to review the examples discussed by Lobo (2008), select one, and then evaluate how genes and the environment interact to influence the development of the trait in question. Use outside references to ensure that you provide enough background information to provide the reader with sufficient clarity on the example being discussed. Reference: Lobo, I. GENE EXPRESSION INFLUENCE
The gene expressions in organisms are believed to gain their influence from environment. This includes the external world that the organisms are located or develops, and the internal world of the organism (Lobo, 2008). The internal world of organisms includes factors like metabolism and hormones, among others. According to Ingrid Lobo, one of the main internal environmental influences, which affect the expression of genes, is gender. There is a clear explanation of this determination through the lenses of sex-limited and sex-influenced traits.
The traits that are influenced by sex can be termed as the differently expressed traits, depending on the two sexes. These kinds of traits are autosomal, meaning that the genes accountable for their expression cease to be transported to the sex chromosomes. For instance, male pattern baldness is considered as a sex-influenced trait, since the baldness allele causes loss of hair and is powered by the testosterone of the hormones as well as dihydrotestosterone (Lobo, 2008). This happens when the stages of these two hormones is elevated. Generally, males tend to have higher ranges of these hormones compared to females (Bouchard & McGue, 2003). This implies that t...
