Psychotherapeutic, Prescription, And Over-The-Counter Drug Abuse Analysis
Prozac/fluoxetine is a psychotherapeutic drug used to treat depression, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. The drug's physiological effects include sweating, diarrhea, asthenia, skin rash, nausea, dry mouth, drowsiness, tremor, decreased libido, and sexual dysfunction. Vicodin is one of the most popular and addictive prescription drugs on the market. Its physiological effects include slowed heart rate, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, poor coordination, and slowed breathing. Advil, or ibuprofen, is an over-the-counter drug used to treat fever, menstrual pain, and arthritis. Its physiological effects include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, dizziness, bloating, abdominal pain, and stomach inflammation.
The effects of abusing Prozac may include the physiological effects mentioned above. However, to determine if one is abusing Prozac, doctors look for aggressive behavior, depression, irritability, insomnia, paranoia, confusion, hallucinations, psychosis, incomplete thoughts, and suicidal behavior (Nova Recovery Center, 2018b). Other behavioral signs include absence from work or school, self-isolating, financial problems, strained relationships, losing a job, and lack of interest in social activities. When an individual abuses Prozac, eventually, they may experience withdrawal symptoms when they try to quit. This is a sign of dependency. Also, the individual might feel as though they need Prozac to function normally. Withdrawal symptoms include headaches, fatigue, muscle pains, irritability, mood swings, and memory problems (Nova Recovery Center, 2018b).
One of Vicodin abuse's major consequences is liver failure (Nova Recovery Center, 2018a). Other negative effects include euphoria, depression, slowed heart rate, slowed breathing rate, lightheadedness, and anxiety. Vicodin addiction signs include self-isolation, mood swings, frequent Vicodin refills, lying to get prescriptions, and spending excessively. When one withdraws from Vicodin use, they may experience severe withdrawal symptoms. These include headaches, chills, cravings, muscle aches, fatigue, depression, diarrhea, and vomiting (Nova Recovery Center, 2018a).
Abusing Advil has serious consequences. People who use Advil too much or for too long can increase their risk of getting a heart attack or stroke (Carter, 2019). The risk of getting a heart attack or stroke is also higher if the individual has other risk factors for heart attack or stroke if they have a clotting disorder and take other medications that affect their blood clotting. Other consequences of abusing Advil include increased blood pressure, decreased kidney functioning, bleeding, and ulcers in the intestines and stomach. These negative effects result from a reduction in the production of prostaglandin. Prostaglandin helps to keep the pressure in the blood and kidneys at the right level. Also, it helps to repair the stomach lining. However, with reduced Prostaglandin levels, each of these body organs is affected. Other effects of abusing Ad...
