The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is the federal body mandated with ensuring that workplace discrimination is curtailed. As a government agency, it is tasked with formulating regulations and providing oversight to organizations to ensure their wage practices are in line with the law. The agency was established in 1965 and its statutory foundation are in the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 and the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The agency is tasked with ensuring that employers do not discriminate against employees based on; their race, gender, sexual orientation, creed, color, religion or national origin CITATION Jam12 \l 1033 (Keeney, 2012).
The paper therefore will look at a case involving the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The paper will dissect the nature of the EEOC's involvement and its impact on the case. The paper has chosen the Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., 550 U.S. 618 (2007) as the subject for the paper CITATION Sup07 \l 1033 (Supreme Court of the United States, 2007).

The Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., is an employment discrimination suit brought against Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company by the Plaintiff Lilly Ledbetter. The plaintiff was aggrieved due to her acquiring knowledge that Goodyear had continuously underpaid her compared to her male colleagues. Ledbetter received a monthly salary of $3,727 compared to $4,286 for the lowest paid male colleague. Ledbetter ultimately sued the company arguing that the pay difference amounted to wage discrimination due to her gender. However, she had previously filed charges against Goodyear with the EEOC.
