Unlike America, the Japanese society is well known as being homogeneous. Their endeavour to accomplish homogeneity is palpable and apparent in how tutors in Japan go about making and enforcing school regulations. The culture of Japan is characteristic in the extent of its uniformity. This paper provides a proposal that suggests changes that should be adopted from the Japanese school model.
Regulate the lives of students painstakingly: the school curriculum in Japan is more rigorous and government controlled. Schools in America should assume the school model used in Japan which is often viewed as painstaking in its regulation of students’ lives. In Japan, this is considered to be in line with the country’s traditional values in which parents significantly regulate the lives of their children (Beauchamp, 2011). This conformity helps to promote order in Japanese schools and minimize the possibility of a student engaging in deviant behaviour. If this is adopted by schools in America, it may help to reduce deviant behaviours among students and promote order. Strict school rules in Japan model the behaviour that is acceptable by the general society in Japan, consequently socializing the young people and guiding them to function properly in the society and be strict law-abiding citizens.
School children should wear uniforms: in Japanese schools unlike in U.S. schools, school kids always wear uniforms. The school uniforms of Japanese school children are delightful and they serve two functions. First, they are intended to alert automobile drivers that school children are ahead. This is very important considering that Japan is a very densely populated country and population is mostly packed into small tracts of land.
