One of the factors that lead to the use of the atomic bomb on Japan was the fact that USSR had started to invade Japan in a renewed insurgence. The USA did not want the USSR involved in the invasion of Japan. This is because it would have lead to the USSR claiming some of the territorial gains for helping the USA out on the invasion. The USA anticipated that the war would cause insurmountable loss of life to the American citizen. As such, the atomic bomb was the most clinical end to the war. As the Japanese would fall back due to the devastation and thus the lives of millions of the Americans that were at risk were salvaged. This also served his other factor of ending the war.
