A bird is one of the friendly pets you can have as a companion among other domestic animals. But, a bird most of the time is kept in a cage, not like dogs, cats, and other house pets. In there, they have no freedom, and accommodated activities are limited. So, how did this idea of using the cage for birds start?
The earliest use of birdcages had started in ancient Egypt, Greece, China, Persia, Babylon, India, Mesopotamia, and Rome. Birds were being kept for symbolic or religious reasons during those periods. And also, were a sign of aristocracy and wealth. (Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia, 2021, para 6).
