Based on my learnings in this course, the first improvement recommendation for the current U.S. health care delivery system relates to reducing the cost of health care. Health care spending continues to increase faster than growth rates in the general economy. This means that not only is a significant proportion of total economic resources being spent on health care delivery, but patients are also finding it increasingly difficult to pay for health care. I would set about this improvement recommendation by employing competitive approaches where health care providers vie with each other to provide the highest quality of care at the lowest price along with chronic disease prevention and management (Shi & Singh, 2019). The expanding aging population means that a larger chunk of health care spending will be spent on managing chronic diseases.
