Standard of Practice
A standard of practice in nursing are a set of guidelines that provide the nurses with a foundation on how they should act and what they are required to do within their professional capacity. The deviations from these standards may result in legal implications within the process of care (O'Connell, Gardner, & Coyer, 2014). On the other hand, it is essential to note that a standard of practice may not be considered as an approach that establishes the manner in which care is delivered since this approach is only aimed at guiding conduct during practice.

As established, the standards of practice are essential in developing practice that is widely acceptable within the nursing industry. Standards of practice are therefore essential in defining the manner in which quality services should be provided (O'Connell, et.al.2014). A plan is therefore developed by the registered nurse that details the strategies that will be employed and interventions required to achieve the treatment goal.
