CRITICAL APPRAISAL GUIDELINES: QUANTITATIVE STUDY Protection of Human Participants According to the Burns, N., & Grove, S. However, participants never had informed consent considering their tender age, in most cases consent came from their parents brings about the ethical dilemma. Data Collection For data collection, open ended as well as interviews were used. Burns, N., & Grove, S. (2011) agrees that interviews are main data gathering instrument in a phenomenological study. The setting where interviews were carried out could have distorted participant recollection of their experiences. However, Burns, N., & Grove, S. (2011) highlights the relevance of carrying out interviews in suitable environments. In this study, researchers do not indicate the time interviews were carried out and whether they were based on the informants’ understanding. Nevertheless, delay is likely to alter informants’ ability to recall their experience and fail to provide complete and precise explanation of facts. Additionally, the interviews were recorded to ensure validity and rigidity to data gathering process. Within the methodology, the research identified the study setting as well as generation of data. In addition, the researcher had to define the demographic in which interviews were carried.
