Essay Instructions:

Health care delivery and the organizations that provide it, manage it, and reimburse for it are growing at an explosive rate. As part of this trend, the growth in the allied health job sector is expected to grow significantly, with job growth projections in the 40% plus range for the period 2012-2022 (according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2012).
Expansive growth is a response to current and predicted need for services, and while encouraging, sustained, and rapid growth will inevitably impact safety, risk management, and quality provision on scales not yet seen by health care organizations.

The healthcare landscape is transforming significantly in ways which increase workforce needs. The aging populations, as well as the Affordable Care Act (ACA), are the key drivers of the increasing number of people accessing healthcare. Secondly, the government should enhance the Accountable Care Organizations to coordinate care among healthcare workplaces to streamline care services. Accountable Care Organizations have potentials to lower costs and improve quality (Shi and Singh, 2017). Thirdly, Oster and Braaten (2016) view that the U.S should make investments in innovation to transform Medicare Advantage programs and hospital payment systems to promote coordination and quality care rather than just paying providers for providing more services. Fourthly, the government should prevent costly complications and conditions by promoting public-private partnerships to enable hospitals to coordinate to create hospital care less costly, more reliable, and safer.
Then, the government should implement and develop a health workforce plan to ensure that more healthcare practitioners are recruited to address the increasing healthcare workforce needs. Lastly, Oster and Braaten (2016) identify that the government should encourage young people to pursue healthcare careers and provide funding to support students to pursue health care courses to enable them to complete their courses to join the workforce.
