Disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD) or Just Disruptive Mood Disorder is on of childhood prevalent disorders’ child with depicts frequent behavioral tantrums which impede his or her ability to co-exist with friends or function optimally at school or home. The majority of the children affected with DMDD are more often show irritability, anger, moodiness, and upset, and temper tantrums are manifestations of underlying psychological problems. Thus, in DMDD, a child is chronically irritable and severe temper outbursts more often that seem proportional to the situation at hand. Children who have DMDD struggle to regulate their emotions in an age-appropriate means. Its pathophysiology is less understood, but more often, the associated ‘psychopathology’ is related to the inability to deal with frustrations and adapting to change without necessarily resorting to emotional outbursts (Tapia & John, 2018). Further, factors like genetics, temperament, co-existing mental conditions, and childhood experiences could be key confounding factors to the emergence of DMDD.
