Oral pathology is a specialty of dentistry whose primary focus is the treatment and diagnosis of diseases such as smokeless tobacco keratosis. Notably, the pathologists are involved in various areas of managing the condition. Whenever individuals report any form of complication in the mouth, it is essential to determine the cause and manage the disease early to avoid the severity of organ damage. Oral pathologists are enlisted to warrant a faster and accurate diagnosis, eliminating all possible complications and treat effectively. The extensive use of smokeless tobacco is a significant cause of oral clinical problems. Smokeless tobacco keratosis is the keratotic changes in the oral mucosa. Through this course, there are numerous valuable lessons that I gained that, I believe, will influence my future practice. Through the lessons, I can differentiate between different oral lesions, particularly the steps of differential diagnosis. Other essential lessons gained through the course include researching, writing, and organizing scientific literature reports. This is a critical skill in any oral pathologist because it ensures that an individual can explain the value of thorough oral pathology screening and evaluation for utmost patient care.
While there were many valuable lessons gained through the course, challenges were also experienced. The course required extensive research and finding relevant articles that addressed the subject under consideration.
