For me, a registered nurse working in the ICU and in most of the cases on the bed side there is need for nursing informatics competences (Gonçalves, Wolff, Staggers & Peres, 2012). Nursing informatics are crucial to enhancing the level of care delivery to patients that are in the ICU and their families. One of the major competencies that is applicable in the ICU is that of communication using the technology advances that is continually changing ("What is a Nurse Informatics Specialist, by Cheryl Parker and Karen Martin", 2016). The other aspect of nursing informatics that is quite crucial in the case of a nurse working in the ICU is information management. Relative to the fact that, there is a lot of information that a nurse is supposed to work with, there is need to have proper management skills.
