Herbal medicine has been used over the years to treat and prevent diseases, diagnosis, or improvement of mental illness. The different types of herbal medicines and their practices are influenced by the environment, the geographical area within which it first evolved, and their prevailing conditions (World Health Organization, 2005). Diet and herbs balance the body's nutritional well-being. Asian countries such as India, China, Japan, and Korea have demonstrated the incorporation of traditional and modern evidence-based medicine to be more achievable (World Health Organization, 2001). Echinacea is an example of a herbal medical intervention used to treat burns, sore throat, toothaches, and stomach upsets. It is usually taken as a tea or a supplement, but it can also be applied topically. Today, in particular, it is used in the treatment of the common cold. Traditional alternative medicine has also essential in administering therapy. Ginseng is a herbal intervention frequently used in traditional Chinese medicine to boost immunity, brain function, and energy levels. The unique compound in Ginseng called ginsenosides increases antidiabetes, anticancer, and immune-supporting properties (Kiefer and Pantuso, 2003).
Biomedical interventions could be categorized under the biomedical branch of medicine that deals with genetics but chemistry on the functional interactions of the disease's body systems. Moreover, biomedical interventions tackle the cause of an illness and facilitate treatment and prevention. These interventions optimize the body's functionality through nutrition, chemical processes, digestive activities, immune functions, and detoxification. Furthermore, biological interventions focus on an individual's underlying weakness or deficiency and ensure that their body heals and symptoms improved.
