In the recent past, the social network theory (SNT) has gained traction in the field of HIV/AIDS research, particularly in the formulation of network-based strategies. Social networks refer to the network or larger networks of relationships that surround an individual and the theory seeks to focus on the impact of such networks on an individual’s behavior (Week 5 PBH 210 Health Behavior and Chronic Disease, 2014). In particular, members of a social network may influence the risk behaviors that result in HIV infection and transmission.
