The managerial department in the organization I work for was forced to reach out to the various department directors since service delivery had become a problem. Most workers were on a go slow since most of them were never comfortable with the way the administration was reaching out to them. As such, the quality of service delivery to patients was greatly affected as most of the staff members responded to the patient demands in an unprofessional manner. The organization, as a result, had no option but to form council units that would ensure all the organization staff members performed their duties diligently. The council units were made of groups comprising ten nurses, each with a group leader who would oversee and ensure that the nurses are performing their duties as per the signed contracts.
The council unit role was to evaluate and ensure that the services rendered by the organization nurses are up to the standard. In addition, the unit council was also supposed to help the nurses in coming up with the most efficient communication skills that will make patients comfortable around them, hence improving the nurses’ service delivery practices both in the hospital and the entire health system.
Group development was divided into four stages (Nelson & James, 2013). The first stage was the group formation stage, which happened to be very challenging as most of the nurses were not permanently allocated a specified station due to a shortage of nurses hence they had to move from one ward to another. Furthermore, many nurses were unwilling to join the various groups for fear of being retrenched due to low-quality service delivery.
