The activity theory of the aging is related to the fact that, most of the older adults tend to at their happiest when they are able to stay active. Ideally, this is also associated with their ability to maintain social connections with those that they love and those that interact with. In the movie Grumpy Old Men, of the year 1993, there is a close reference to the theory. Both John and Max are at their happiest when they are able to take part ice fishing. More importantly when they connect with Ariel Truax, a lady that moves in next door. They also have a mutual friend who also takes on the challenge to connect with the new neighbor much like the two men, John and Max.
The age stratification theory, relates to the different cohorts that are formed of the different times that the older adults were born. Ideally, relative to the time that an older adult was born and the much experience that they have, they may fall into specific categories and groups. In the movie, there is a very good example with the way that the two friends behave and the way that John’s father behaves.
