Nursing advocacy should be upheld for quality care as all patients with or without a voice should be highly regarded in healthcare. When nurses act as advocates for their patients to help them make informed decisions or speak on behalf of minors, mental patients, etc., they uphold ethics in nursing practice to fulfill their work showing commitment in it. The obligations of nurses to others and themselves makes it vital to have the American Nurses Association(ANA) code of ethics acting as a guide for high-quality professionalism with the patient as the primary commitment. The rights of the patients should be well observed in the nursing practice in the case of philosophy, ethics and advocacy in nursing with the upholding of respect leading to the best nurses.
The nursing code of ethics emphasizes the need for guidance in nursing. It covers all areas of society and the welfare of nurses indicating that nursing remains a crucial profession. Nursing to me means care of each patient individually and fully aiming to restore health, deal with deaths or recoveries, prevent illnesses, regardless of their religion or social status.
