According to Evans et al. (2008), there is a need for citizenship education worldwide as the world become globalized. Globalization demands for a global citizen and hence the demand for global citizenship education. They observe the advantage of education is to equip the individual with a way of responding to the existing social concerns for example racisms, violence, and conflict and others it is a way of preparing one to understand and be involved in the civic life of their communities. The article also observes the limitation of education on global giving social, economic, and cultural factors as issues transcending formal national boundaries.
One way to conceptualize citizenship beyond an individual border is by understanding global citizenship.
