To conclude, the study seeks to answer the primary research question of whether there are enough universities in the U.S. to cater to the educational needs of ASL students and the deaf community. The potential implications of the study to the ASL field are to contribute to the existing literature and provide the direction of whether more educational institutions for the deaf or ASL learners should be introduced. Based on Kanda and Fleischer, effective ASL teachers need to respect and be comfortable with the deaf community and its culture, understand ASL pedagogy, have aspirations for professional and personal growth, and be friendly to ASL students (Kanda & Fleischer, 1988).
