Climate Change
Climate change is the most important societal problem in the world currently. It refers to a long-term change in the weather pattern of a particular place. The climate change problem has increased in the contemporary world escalated by human activities, yet little is being done to address it before it becomes chronic than it currently is. Human activities like cutting down trees, burning coal to generate energy, agricultural activities, and industrialization are the leading cause of climate change. Continuous adherence to these activities endangers the global ecology through climate change impacts.
People cut down trees for several reasons, consequently leading to climate change. The first reason for deforestation is the increasing global population. People cut down trees to create space for human settlement, agricultural activities, and industrial expansion. Trees are good agents of environmental purification. People and animals exhale carbon dioxide gas and inhale oxygen to keep themselves surviving (Parry, 2019). The trees release oxygen to humans and other living things and take in carbon dioxide, purifying it before releasing it to the environment. Cutting down trees means that people will have little oxygen and more carbon dioxide, which is toxic to people’s bodies.
Burning coal to produce energy also leads to climate change. The combustion of coal is incomplete, and the gas released in incomplete combustion is carbon monoxide. This gas is toxic and destroys the respiratory system in humans and other animals. It also rises and corrodes the protective ozone layer. The destruction of the ozone layer leads to an increased temperature on the earth’s service, causing multiple destructions (Change, 2016). First, it melts the ice in the polar regions, destroying recreation activit...
