Trending topics in social media are usually the backbone of determining the ratings of social sites worldwide. Of late however, there have been several cases involving various social media sites such as Facebook on the use of some software to manipulate the trending list in order to maintain their rankings on the network (Brabazon, 2015). Though such sites disclaim it, the media is full of fraud and politics and the possibility of manipulating the list by removing other topics enables them to grab and maintain power and attention over the network (Ranosa , 2016). A company like Facebook is used worldwide but competition in the market niche is very stiff and intense from competitors like Twitter hence making them to focus on celebrities and politicians forgetting the average users.
