Correlational field study is one technique of conducting research in management in which two or more variables are determined if they are correlated. The method focuses on the extent of the connection between the independent variables and the dependent variables (Tharenou, Donohue & Cooper, 2007). For example, a study can be conducted to determine if organizational commitment is related to employee quitting.
Quasi-experimental research method is also applied in management because it seeks to approximate the causal effect of involvement on a target population (Tharenou, Donohue & Cooper, 2007). Quasi has some similarities to experimental design which involves controlling variables while manipulation some others to determine if the results indicate that the manipulation are right away caused by a specific outcome. However, in quasi-experimental design, there is no random assignment in the control. Quasi-experimental methods enable the researcher to be in control of the study to the treatment condition such as employee performance average mark (Tharenou, Donohue & Cooper, 2007).
