The success of an organization depends on its acquisition and retention of talent. Hiring the right people enables the company to execute its strategy. However, many organizations have always treated hiring as an administrative process with no significance on the business strategy. The need to attract and retain talent cannot be over emphasized. This paper looks at ten assets an organization can use as leverage to attract to attract talent. Additionally, the paper will also describe elements of successful recruitment strategy for a multi-cultural workforce.
To attract talent organization need to leverage on its assets. One way of attracting talent is by using the brand, company which are branded and are easily recognizable attracts talent. Branding thus positions the company like a magnet (Botha, Bussin, & De Swardt, 2011). Another asset is the appeal, giving the target talent an insight into the amenities the organization offers. The third is showing growth, and potential recruits want to be associated with a growing company. The ability of the organization to challenge the talent elucidates interest in the target and increases chances of landing him/her. Providing a positive environment attract talent when a strong support system is available, employees not only feel like workers but also valued human beings. Making the recruit aware of the leadership system is another factor. Offering packages like learning opportunity, vacations and flexibility attract talent (Botha, Bussin, & De Swardt, 2011)
Elements of successful recruitment strategy in a multi-cultural workforce include a clear business mandate that stresses on diversity hiring. Diversity Staffing thus must take care of business goals and recruitment must only be done in line with these objectives (Botha, Bussin, & De Swardt, 2011). Another element is planning, a well-planned recruitment strategy accommodates all the stakeholder thereby minimizing surprises. It also encompasses a strong cultural competency and multicultural respect. Cultural competence ensures employees have the right skills to work with diverse people.
