Despite safety measures being put in place, employees still die at work. Accidents are unpredictable and can happen anytime with or without safety nets. People tend to ignore safety yet it is important in any working environment (Business Case for Safety and Health, 2014). Not everyone believes in safety; most people assume that they know what they are doing, and so they tend to think safety is not a priority. Working in buildings can be dangerous; one can easily slip and fall (Occupational Safety and Health Administration, 2014).
However, whether workplace accident is based on the carelessness of the employees or employers’ lack of commitment to safety, the employer would be liable to face any legal liability in case of non-adherence to legal safety measures. Therefore, employers are still responsible for the death or injury of an employee. Conversely, not all employers are committed to upholding the safety of employees. Certain regulations are usually ignored; for example, not all employers implement the safety regulations as required by the Occupational Safety and Health Act, requiring the work environment to be free from dangerous risk like uncovered wiring (Health and Safety Executive, 2014).
