Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

The systems development life cycle describes the planning, analysis, design, and implementation of a new information system. One would implement this model by starting with an investigation to determine if the new informations system will be successful. Then the company performs a system analysis on the current informations systems. Here they will identify weaknesses and strengths and find recommendations for supplementary work. The goal is to gather enough information to create a final analysis report. The final step is to evaluate feasability of alternative information systems. If a new information system is the best choice then they can make a new system or order one. Implenetation of the SDLC wouldn't be complete without constant review of the system.
Accountants need to have the skills to understand the information technology or else the daily operations would not be successful. Accountants also use IT to evaluate efficiency. Information technology or the hardware and software is necessary for accounting information systems because they perform the tasks the AIS was designed for. IT should be compatible and support the system.
