Introduction
The rise in immigration in the past few decades, including forced migration, has raised concerns that migrants will likely face numerous challenges or be integrated into the unwelcoming host communities. Increased publicity and attention on immigration have provided insights into migrant struggles. Increasingly, undocumented immigrants seek to achieve inclusion through various strategies such as protests, but they also face exclusion and discriminatory policies in host countries. The qualitative approaches highlight the different scenarios that influenced migration and have affected the migrants' lives during their journeys and to the host countries. The lack of political visibility among refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers, making it more challenging to fight for their legal rights and make their voices heard. There are diverse realities on migrant experiences, but citizen political mobilization is necessary to highlight migration issues and increase visibility to spur action. 
Synthesizing the readings
It is more challenging for the refugees and migrants lacking legal status and living in the margins to get their voices heard. The politics of refugee and migrant protest is contentious evens there have been increased demonstrations among those seeking a space to highlight their plight (Ataç 2016). Space is closely intertwined with structures, and relations and protests provide opportunities to fight for migrants' legal and social rights in contested spaces of citizenship. Ataç (2016) points out that there has been an increase in self-organized protests among refugees, irregular migrants, and asylum seekers over the past few years. This has been bolstered by support from advocacy organizations and the focus on protest as a form of activism.
Migration politics and policies have had a negative impact on irregular immigrants, but few studies focus on the immigrants' experiences to better understand them and the immigration process. There is increased precarious migration as immigrants are vulnerable to exploitation and few networks that offer supported paths for citizenships. Some of the immigrants are forced by circumstances to move, including political conditions. Squire (2018), points out that migration politics is associated with a rise in the number of displaced people and immigrants, but there is more focus on containment and abandonment. Framing EU policies on migration from the migrants' experiences and views provide insights into how the policies have affected their lives (Squire, 2018). There are fewer channels for regular migration than before and more efforts to prevent and limit immigration, including restrictive legislation and movement.
 Key conceptual and empirical issues
Squire (2018) used a semi-structured interview to gather qualitative data where the participants were immigrants who share their experiences. In this approach, there was an engagement between the researchers and the participants.
